ECS-Entats
is a unique water-based formulation specifically engineered as an attenuating
agent for a broad range of hydrocarbon compounds. ECS-Entats has been listed
by the U.S. EPA on the national Contingency Plan (NCP) for oil spills and
other hydrocarbon clean-up situations. ECS-Entats will emulsify, encapsulate
and disperse the hydrocarbon compounds on contact. ECS-Entats will not
cause or catalyze any specific chemical reaction.
As the
hydrocarbon contaminant becomes emulsified and encapsulated by ECS-Entats,
the spill will generally register as pH neutral (pH 7) and the lower explosion
limit (LEL) will normally register "0".
In a closed
system, the contaminate-laden ECS-Entats can be collected so that the contaminate
can be separated back out of the solution, reclaimed or reused by the manufacturer.
Reclaimed ECS-Entats can also be reused.
ECS-Entats
is a proprietary formulation designed for the attenuation and mitigation
of hydrocarbon compounds. By reducing the volume of the contaminant into
smaller particles, it is easier to collect, treat or degrade the contaminant
with biological agents or waste treatment. The addition of ECS-Entats as
an emulsifier reduces the cohesive forces between the hydrocarbons, separating
them into extremely small particles that allows them to become encapsulated
by ECS-Entats. The result is a much greater surface area exposed to the
proper elements for biological degradation.
During
the degradation process, the hydrocarbons will be used as food and energy
sources by the bacteria with the consequential end products being carbon
dioxide, water, cell mass and biological waste products. |

Emission
Control: |
|
|
ECS-Entats
may be used in a scrubbing application for collection of VOCs, hydrocarbons
and other organics in the air stream. The scrubbing solution waste has
to be collected and disposed of in accordance with federal, state and local
guidelines. If necessary, the collected waste can also be reprocessed to
separate out any materials the user wishes to recover. Dilution rates will
vary depending on the type of gas encountered, the ppm levels of those
gases and the required reduction levels. |

Tank
Cleaning: |
|
|
Applied
through normal pressure washing techniques, ECS-Entats may be used in the
tank cleaning process to remove hydrocarbon residuals from the walls of
the tank. Depending on the contamination level, the wastewater collected
which contains the ECS-Entats may be disposed of in accordance with federal,
state and local guidelines. The waste collected can also be reprocessed
to separate back out the collected hydrocarbons, if required. Application
rates of the ECS-Entats will vary depending on the type of chemicals encountered
and the amount of those chemicals still present in the tank walls and sump
areas. |

|
|
Remediation: |
|
|
ECS-Entats
can be used as an initial preparation for remediating soils contaminated
with VOCs, hydrocarbons and other organic materials. Depending on the degrees
of contamination, a dilution of ECS-Entats will be sprayed directly onto
the area to be remediated. This preparation instigates a breakdown of the
larger solid masses, dramatically increasing the exposed surface area,
which then facilitates quicker microbial activity. This process, used in
conjunction with the correct selection of bacteria for the remediation,
will dramatically reduce the remediation period, improving turnaround time
for the operations company and the client. |
